As part of changes to make early game combat more active, we're introducing the new Steelskin skill, and are changing Molten Shell and Immortal Call. So probably not intended to be that used by the top 0.01% of players that clear t16 maps in two minutes. Tuning early game where 100% of players actually play is good for ROI.
28 maj 2019 · Steelskin is a new defensive skill which is available very early in the game. It instantly hardens your skin, granting a damage barrier that absorbs 70% of all damage taken. It has a maximum amount of damage that it can absorb, which increases as the gem levels.

There currently are five guard skills: Molten Shell (and Vaal Molten Shell) Immortal Call. Steelskin. Arcane Cloak. Bone Armour (Necromancer only, basically Steelskin) The vast majority of players in SC and HC run Molten Shell / VMS, it is the best guard skill for most builds, typically more than doubling EHP.
Level 20 cwdt requires 3.2k damage. Level 20 steelskin covers 2.2k damage at 70% mitigation, meaning you're taking up to 1k damage to life in that time. So as long as you have 4.2k life or more, L20 cwdt with steelskin is perfectly fine.
