28 maj 2019 · Steelskin is a new defensive skill which is available very early in the game. It instantly hardens your skin, granting a damage barrier that absorbs 70% of all damage taken. It has a maximum amount of damage that it can absorb, which increases as the gem levels.
Level 20 cwdt requires 3.2k damage. Level 20 steelskin covers 2.2k damage at 70% mitigation, meaning you're taking up to 1k damage to life in that time. So as long as you have 4.2k life or more, L20 cwdt with steelskin is perfectly fine.
As part of changes to make early game combat more active, we're introducing the new Steelskin skill, and are changing Molten Shell and Immortal Call. So probably not intended to be that used by the top 0.01% of players that clear t16 maps in two minutes.
It inherently has 9 second duration (normal molten shell 3 seconds, steelskin 1.5 seconds). With increased duration gem you are up to ~15 seconds. It uses 60% of your armor as shield (and gives 1000 extra armor), so with 10k armor you already looking at 7k damage mitigation.

15 sie 2023 · If you're bad at remembering to use a Guard Skill consider triggering it with Cast when Damage Taken Support or putting it on Left Click. If your build lacks Armor and Mana instead consider Steelskin which gives immunity to Bleeding, and grants an absorb to increase your effective health pool.
