Applications for admission are available beginning in October of the year prior to the year in which you would enter Berkeley. The application filing period is October 1 – November 30. All applications must be submitted by November 30.
You are a first-year applicant if you are currently in high school or have graduated from high school and have taken no college coursework in a regular session (fall, winter, spring). Berkeley uses a holistic review process to assess applications and to build a strong and diverse class.
From Nov. 30 – Dec. 31: Questions regarding the University of California application should be handled through: UC Application. How to apply. The application opens August 1, and you may submit the application October 1 – December 2. Complete the UC application. Apply to as many UC campuses as you like with one application.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions did not send paper letters to students who were denied admission for fall. Because the overwhelming majority of our applicants prefer to learn of their admission decision electronically, we post decisions on our secure applicant portal, MAP@Berkeley.
