Anyone had ALIF done at 70+? My mom (76) is looking at needing this surgery. She had a laminectomy that if anything made the pain worse. She is now in the hospital as the sciatic pain is so extreme, and she has an osteoperotic spinal fracture in addition. Cortisone injections have not helped.
6 gru 2016 · ALIF back surgery at the L5/S1 joint. Have you had it? What was your condition like before and after? How was your recovery? Has it helped? Thanks. I had a PLIF surgery at L4/L5 (2013), so a similar process. I was walking the day after the surgery.
Surgery done by a neurosurgeon and assisted by a vascular surgeon (typical for an ALIF). Nerve pain in my legs (especially feet) was the worst for the first 2-3 weeks PO. There was a week span where I struggled to sleep 1 hour a night since no meds helped.
I’m 10 days post op for my ALIF with posterior fixation. Pain that plagued me for 2 years is gone. Now I just have some residual pain from the surgical areas on my body. Some tightness in my lower right back area…which should go down as time goes on. I’m a 28yr M. Hoping for a success…time will tell! Be prepared that the surgery does not go well.
