  1. 19 mar 2023 · Spey Rod Guide Spacing. After a nearly 30-year hobby building dozens (maybe hundreds) of fly rods, I'm finally building my first Spey Rod. My blank is from North Fork Composites, designated LMX FASY 1267-4 (fast); translating to 12'6" 4-piece, 7 wt, fast action rod.

  6. Guide spacing for spey rods is no different than for any other rod. Generally, what you are using now on your other fly rods will work just as well on your spey or two handed rod. Measure from the reel center to the stripping guide on a rod you have now that works well.

  7. 16 lut 2016 · The rod I'm building is a 12'6" 6/7 and I ordered size 3 snakes for the terminal guides. I'll be tapering down from a size 20 stripper. I based these choices on some published guide spacing charts from the internet.
