Son Volt is an American rock band formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. The band's current line-up consists of Farrar (vocals, guitar), Andrew DuPlantis (bass guitar), John Horton (guitar), Mark Patterson (drums), and Mark Spencer (keyboard, steel guitar).
BIO - Son Volt. 2020 was not quite what Jay Farrar was expecting for the 25th anniversary of Son Volt’s groundbreaking debut Trace, from the band he started in 1994 after leaving the seminal group Uncle Tupelo, whose No Depression album helped define the alt-country and Americana genre.

Son Volt is an Alternative Country band from St. Louis, Missouri. They were formed in 1994 out of the ashes of the seminal alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, which had two songwriters. Jeff Tweedy formed Wilco; Jay Farrar formed Son Volt.
