Center loaded antennas such as "Hamsticks" are much preferred to base loaded antennas due to improved current distribution over a greater part of the antenna length. These fiberglass, low profile antennas will stay vertical at high speeds without guying.

In this video I review the 10, 15, 20, 40, and 75 meter Shark Hamsticks and give a solution on how to fix the poor SWR of the 40 meter Shark Hamstick.
I started with the 10m band antenna, and the analyzer said it was resonant at about 1Mhz (~1.6 SWR), with an SWR of over 3 in the 10m band. So, figuring it was too short, I slid the whip out a bit and tried again. The SWR improved, but still showed resonance well outside of the 10m band.
6 paź 2022 · In my experience with the Hamstick antennas is the lower you go in frequency, 40m, 75m/80m, the narrower the band with gets. My 40m Hamstick band with is pretty narrow so I have the antenna tuned for the frequency range that I use when mobile.
31 sie 2017 · From there you will need to use the SWR meter or antenna analyzer to adjust the antenna to the optimum setting. The advantage of using an antenna analyzer over an SWR meter is that it gives you much more information to help optimize your antenna system.
You can connect them anywhere on the antenna mount that is metal — except the 3/8 mount for the antenna itself. The radials should be at minimum quantity four spread out in different directions and at approximately a quarter wave long.
28 sty 2016 · If you have a little space for a wire antenna you can do much better than a hamstick. What bands are you interested in? You can make or buy a 64:1 transformer to match an end fed half wave and for 40-10m it uses about 63ft of wire.
