12 cze 2016 · Exodus 17:8-16 As I’ve said many times, Exodus is about the God who makes himself known: first to Moses, then to Pharaoh, then to the Egyptians, and now to the nation of Israel. We’ve been following Israel as they make their journey from the Red Sea (Exodus 14) to the foot of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19).
Exodus 17: 8-13. Our text today reveals a critical moment in the history of Israel. Following 430 years of captivity in Egypt, Moses had led them across the Red Sea into freedom. They had begun their journey toward the Promised Land and were soon met with opposition.
10 mar 2014 · In Exodus 17 there are a number of different people we hear about who all play a role in victory being won: Moses, Aaron, Hur, Joshua, and the unnamed men who are engaged in the battle in the valley. How would you describe what each person contributes to the cause?
Moses commands Joshua to “choose men for us” to fight the Amalekites. This implies that Joshua is to choose a select group to fight the battle. Moses specifies no criteria for Joshua to use in making the selection––and there is no hint of the manner in which Joshua chose the men.
