I would argue that "scritches" is an onomatopoeia. It sounds like it's meaning. Scratches, one could argue, are longer strokes, making the scratch sound. Scritches are short, fast and sound like scritch. The English language is ever-changing, and in the grand scheme of recent new words, I much prefer it to Dap or Bro.
