It's a short story told all in one chapter. One shot = one chapter. Some people also call a story with two chapters a two shot. I consider it the equivalent of a short story, that is, complete within itself.
(Also, I'm confused how narrow OP's idea of one-shot is when they're saying "you can work up to full 1k+ chapters. One-shots can be longer than 1k easily.)
