The campground stretches along the banks of Salmon Creek. A forest of cottonwood, lodgepole pine and cedar offers shade. The surrounding area contains an abundance of beautiful high mountain lakes, rugged peaks, and scenic views.
Salmon Creek Campground. Salmon Creek is located two miles north of Bassetts on the Gold Lake Highway near Salmon Creek, there are 31 campsites- 7 of them have space for trailers. It has vault toilets and piped water. Salmon Creek Campground is surrounded by lodgepole pine and cedar trees.
Salmon Creek Campground is located in the North Yuba River area. Visitors enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities in the area, including hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, and gold panning. This facility is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National Forest.
The campground is normally open from mid May to mid May. 20 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 15 and 45 feet. All sites are currently reservable. There is a fee of $24.00 per night.
Salmon Creek Campground has 31 campsites and is located next to the creek set among lodgepole and cedar trees in the Tahoe National Forest. Most of the 31 campsites are good for tents, but there are a handful large enough for RVs and trailers (22, 24, 26 and 27).
Salmon Creek Trail Map. The Hike. After parking, walk south to the trailhead clearly marked with the sign pictured at right. You’ll walk a short distance inland and see a fork where the Salmon Creek trail heads up the hill to the right.
Salmon Creek offers some of the southernmost trails in Big Sur with several great options for quick elevation gain and backcountry camping. The trailhead begins on Highway 1 at a horseshoe bend, where a large sign indicates the distances to Spruce and Estrella Camps.
