17 sie 2024 · We’ll compare both on their usability (durability, edge retention and difficulty to sharpen) and specifications before picking out some of the best knives that use either steel. By the end of this article, you’ll be ready to make a choice between either S30v or 420HC steel for your next survival knife. Haven’t got time for a full review?
17 lis 2015 · 420hc is a fine steel, S30v is "better". I use regularly a Buck Woodsman and a Buck folder (285 i think) in 420hc. They are great but don't hold an edge like S30v or other "super" steels. 420hc is a great affordable steel but you need to touch them up often if you want a razor sharp blade.
We’ve looked over the two steel compositions, but how is S30V better than 420HC? Well, S30V has better edge retention, durability, and corrosion resistance. It’s just a better steel in all ways. The reason S30V is better is the materials: It has higher carbon, making it stronger; it’s got more vanadium, making the grain size smaller so it ...
According to the chemical composition and the HRC of the steel, the CPM S30V Steel has the following features: Edge Retention: With a maximum of 61HRC due to the mixture of Tungsten, Vanadium, Manganese, and Carbon, the CPM S30V offers a great hardness followed up by an excellent Edge Retention.
24 wrz 2014 · The s30v is a "superior steel," but don't let that scare you away from the 420hc. Buck has produced millions of knives with the 420hc, and it is great for hunting.
6 lis 2023 · Anyone here have any experience with Buck's S30v BOS? If so how does it compare to say Spyderco or Benchmade? Both of those companies do that steel really well and if Buck can do it better then I would like to know.
