2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzodioksyna, TCDD – organiczny związek chemiczny z grupy dioksyn o bardzo dużej toksyczności. Związek ten został prawdopodobnie wykorzystany do usiłowania otrucia Wiktora Juszczenki jesienią 2004 roku w czasie kampanii prezydenckiej na Ukrainie.
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a polychlorinated dibenzo -p- dioxin (sometimes shortened, though inaccurately, to simply 'dioxin') [3] with the chemical formula C 12 H 4 Cl 4 O 2. Pure TCDD is a colorless solid with no distinguishable odor at room temperature.
2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD) is the most toxic of the family of 210 compounds. Seventeen of these PCDD/F compounds having chlorines in the 2,3,7, and 8 positions are designated for special concern because their shape makes them particularly bioactive.
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo- p -dioxin (TCDD), a very potent AHR agonist, induces a variety of toxic and biochemical responses including induction of drug-metabolizing enzymes, tumor promotion, thymic involution, hydronephrosis, cleft palate, wasting syndrome, etc.

2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo- para -dioxin (TCDD) has no known commercial applications. It occurred as a contaminant in chlorophenoxy herbicides, including 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), which were widely used in the 1960s and 1970s to control weeds (e.g. on pastureland and food crops) and as a defoliant during the Viet Nam war.
The 2,4,5-T was later found to be contaminated with the very toxic 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin, and this was estimated to have caused birth defects in at least 500 000 children. (Children of Vietnam Veterans Health Alliance http://covvha.net/category/agent-orange-birth-defects/#.UF53xEKCi2c .)
