RPGMaker 95 (the version you probably used) was easily cracked and distributed everywhere. I started RPG gamemaking in 2000, although I used a freeware maker (RPGToolkit), but I remember there were lots of people coming over from RPGMaker 95, and these were all teenagers using cracked copies.
