20 kwi 2023 · This study assessed the impacts of climate change on Nigerian ecology, vegetation as well as carbon and biomass management. Climate change in different Nigerian zones results in variabilities in temperature and rainfall, thereby affecting Nigerian ecology/vegetation.
18 paź 2022 · Increasing climate variability in Nigeria is causing more intense and untimely rainfall. Adding to land degradation, flash floods, landslides, and gully erosion have worsened across one of the ten most vulnerable countries to climate change impacts.
3.1 Geographical location, relief, climate, soils and Vegetation of Nigeria. The Federal Republic of Nigeria (henceforth referred to as Nigeria), is located on the West coast of Africa between latitudes 3°15’ to 13°30’ N and longitudes 2°59’ to 15°00’ E (Figure 1).
Analysis of data from the World Bank Group’s Climate Change Knowledge Portal (CCKP) (Table 2) shows information for the latest climatology, 1991–2020. Mean annual temperature for Nigeria is 27.2°C, with average monthly temperatures ranging between 24°C (December, January) and 30°C (April).
This page presents Nigeria's climate context for the current climatology, 1991-2020, derived from observed, historical data. Information should be used to build a strong understanding of current climate conditions in order to appreciate future climate scenarios and projected change.
Climate change in Nigeria is shifting climate regions. The desert region in the North is receding North, steppe region in the North is set to expand southwards, the tropical savanna climate is expanding, and tropical monsoon regions in the South are moving northwards, replacing tropical rainforest .
18 mar 2016 · In this work, the spatiotemporal variations in vegetation growth in four vegetation zones in Nigeria using the AVHRR NDVI data (1982–2011) and NASA’s MERRA air temperature, humidity, and precipitation data at 2 m were examined. The overall trend showed an increase of about 0.03 × 10 −4 NDVI/year.
