All migratory bird hunters are required by Federal Law to obtain a RI Harvest Information Program (HIP) Permit, obtainable through the online licensing system at rio.ri.gov, and at hunting license vendors, DEM headquarters in Providence, and participating town clerks statewide.
The only legal method of deer hunting on Prudence and Patience Islands is by archery, including crossbows, except for during the special hunting season (see Youth & Disabled Hunting Opportunities). Proficiency testing is required for all archery deer hunters on Prudence and Patience Islands.
