The Hi-nu is the best RG they've made and the MG, while still very good, left me wanting. Now, speaking purely subjectively, I also think the RG version of the design looks a lot better, both in color and proportion, and the new funnels are especially gorgeous (and much easier to get to look right).
RG Unicorn in Destroy Mode is taller than RG Hi Nu. RG Unicorn in Unicorn Mode is not. Also make sure that you do not have the hip extension on RG Hi Nu (or another RG for that matter) in the lower most position as that is meant for posing.
Bandai branched RG kits out of the Gundam series, with the RG Evangelion series also being fantastic (with minor flaws that can be easily remedied). RG's are also a step above MG's when it comes to build difficulty, due to higher overall part count and much lower part size.
