Requiem no longer works with a pure SSE 1.5.97 installation, but this version was never officially supported before. You need the latest Steam version of Skyrim (or at least the latest plugins).

Additionally, it marks the first step at integrating the Creation Club DLCs into Requiem.
You must find patches for matching versions of Requiem. Requiem 5.0 should be compatible with patches that are for Requiem 4.0.x, in general. But you must also make sure that the mod you want to add is compatible with AE (aka Skyrim 1.6). Load added mods before Requiem, then Requiem.esp, and then the patch.
