28 sie 2018 · With just a 40B for a sump it's hard to squeeze in spaces for socks, skimmer, return chamber AND a decent size refugium. I made mine work but really don't recommend it much. 30 sty 2023 · The most common way is to make a special baffle in the sumo. Another way is to have an additional aquarium connected to the system with the sump using a circulation pump. You can easily make the whole system yourself or buy a ready-made refugium from a marine aquarium shop.

Having a refugium in a sump is the cheapest and most beginner friendly option. If you do not have a sump there are other methods, but ultimately having a sump will be best. In your sump, you will most likely have two or three sections. The first section is where your intake is and where the protein skimmer is.

27 sty 2022 · This is my basic sump design. I didn't show it in the picture, but would probably use bio bricks on the floor of refugium and chemical filtration in the return section. Also not sure if I want to go filter sock or filter foam. may need another baffle for skimmer, or could put it in the sock chamber on a riser What are your thoughts?
27 lut 2023 · What is a refugium? Refugiums are dedicated chambers designed to grow macroalgae as a means of filtering the water. As the macroalgae grow they will uptake nitrate and phosphate from the water effectively filtering your aquarium without the need for any special filter media or chemicals.
