If the recipe calls for fresh artichokes (not that it sounds like she followed the recipe anyways with her orange and random spices), and she used pickled artichokes, the flavour will be vinegary and disgusting from the very beginning, and there will be no point in time where it tastes decent.

But yeah, she used pickled artichoke, good Lord. The only spices you'd need is some chopped garlic, salt, and pepper normally. And there's probably some mayo and/or cream cheese involved.
