I did find one that compared the g15 versus gray in regular Ray-Bans. I'm assuming the results and opinions are the same. Using the same videos, it appears that the transition lenses are considered gen 8.
G15 is named as such because it allows 15% light transmission, blocking 85% of light, in a green tinted lens. (B15 is the brown version.). Per the previous comment, I would suspect the polarization is causing the big difference you're seeing.
