Music. Fellow Redditors from Algeria, hope all is alright. To make long story short, I am not Algerian by the way, but I do love Algeria and would love to visit one day, I’ve just recently developed a keen interest in Algerian music. Mainly, Rai music especially during late 80’s to early-mid 90’s.

Raï is a type of Algerian popular music that arose in the 1920s [5] [6] in the port city of Oran, and that self-consciously ran counter to accepted artistic and social mores. It appealed to young people who sought to modernize the traditional Islamic values and attitudes.
