If you had a weight / circumference ratio, and a higher ratio is correlated with higher scores, then the following might be true: with constant head circumference, a bigger weight is expected to increase your score with constant weight, a bigger circumference is expected to lower your score.
21 gru 2017 · Multiple studies have reported that individuals with low birth weights (LBW, <2500 g) have a lower intelligence quotient (IQ) than those with normal birth weights (NBW, ≥2500 g).
31 sie 2023 · Being born small for gestational age (SGA), often defined as a birth weight percentile (BWP) of lower than 10% for gestation, has been repeatedly shown to be associated with lower scores on intelligence tests (IQ)—an important predictor of a variety of long-term outcomes such as academic and occupational achievement, as well as physical ...
21 gru 2017 · Based on 57 eligible individual studies including 12,137 participants, we performed a meta-analysis to estimate the association between low birth weight and individuals' IQ scores (IQs). The pooled weight mean difference (WMD) in IQs between NBW and LBW individuals was 10 (95% CI 9.26-11.68).
Our finding that birthweight differences predict IQ differences within MZ twin pairs provides new evidence that the mechanism can be narrowed to an environmental effect during pregnancy, rather than any familial environmental influence shared by siblings, or genes.
Based on the GCTA-GREML IQ additive heritability estimate (i.e., .40), IQ in the WLS sample would be expected to decline at a rate of −.208 points per decade (95% CI [−.020, −.383 points per decade]).
