The Accutron Quartz Series 242 is powered by a 1.55 volt "Bulova 242" battery. Voltage from the battery is introduced into the electronic circuit, which then transmits current to the Quartz Crystal circuit causing it to vibrate at 32,768 Hz (cycles per second). The accuracy of the watch is dependent on the frequency of the Quartz Crystal.
