2TB is the max internal HDD or SSD you can put in a Pro and PS4. 8TB is the max size external USB drive you can add to both. I upgraded to a 1TB Samsung SSD. It was easy and made a noticeable difference in game load times as well as made my system feel more responsive.
You can take that SSD back out of the Pro, format it, and use it as a USB Extended Hard Drive (in a cheap USB enclosure) on the PS5. Ps4 pro can't utilize full speed of ssd by a long shot, you'll see maybe 20-30% improvement, if you're lucky in some games maybe slightly more.
