16 lip 2008 · It may actually be cheaper for Sony to source 80 GB drives (who makes 40 GB drives any more for mainstream use?), which I'd say is a more likely explanation than Sony trying to satisfy the needs of their customers. 80 gig, as mentioned above, is hardly a huge amount of storage space these days.

17 sty 2021 · The original PS3 shipped in a 20 GB model. Any games needed will work fine in that much space. The additional space might be nice for storing movies or music or something, so beyond that it's just preference.

I'm looking at either 160gb or 320gb slims to replace it, but there seems to be subtle differences beyond HDD size. The 320 seems to be less power hungry, better chips, better RAM modules, lighter...but it's hard to confirm.
