11 wrz 2023 · The shaft is relatively wide at the proximal end but becomes progressively narrow toward the middle. It is bowed anteriorly, which contributes to the weight bearing capacity of the bone. The shaft then undergoes marked re-expansion towards the distal end.

13 lis 2020 · The Shaft. The shaft of the femur descends in a slight medial direction. This brings the knees closer to the body’s centre of gravity, increasing stability. A cross section of the shaft in the middle is circular but flattened posteriorly at the proximal and distal aspects.
9 cze 2024 · The femur anatomy has several parts: the shaft, head, neck, and more. The top part fits into your hip joint, and the bottom connects to your shinbone (tibia) and kneecap (patella) to form your knee. Humans have two femurs, one in each leg, and they meet at the knees, connecting to the tibiae.
Where is the femur located? The femur is the only bone in your thigh. It runs from your hip to your knee. What does the femur look like? The femur has two rounded ends and a long shaft in the middle. It’s the classic shape used for bones in cartoons: A cylinder with two round bumps at each end.
29 mar 2021 · Femur Bone Anatomy: The intertrochanteric line (light blue) is located on the anterior side of the proximal femur at the junction of the femoral neck and body, between the greater trochanter and lesser trochanter.
8 lis 2021 · The femur is a long bone with two ends: proximal and distal. The end, which lies on the side of the hip, is called the proximal femur, and another on the side of the knee is referred to as the distal femur. The region between these two ends is called the shaft.
The femoral shaft, knows as the body of femur, is cylindrical in shape. It is oriented obliquely downward, resulting in wide space between the upper ends of the femur to accommodate the pelvis, while the lower ends are closer together to facilitate approximation of the knees.
