17 gru 2021 · The closest corn feeder to the pen is over 100yds away and we do not hunt over the protein, fyi. Location of the feeders can be key, as is access to water. We have no shortage of water on our place, and have found a central location in the property that the deer like, so we're concentrating all feeders to it.
26 lis 2022 · After spending thousands of $ over 10 years on two properties (2k low fenced and 1.5k high fenced acres), I don't think you can feed enough protein to make a difference without keeping the deer in feeding pens that control everything they eat.

Of the five subspecies of wild turkeys, only the Eastern, Rio Grande and Merriam’s wild turkeys occur in Texas. Notice that Rio Grande and Merriam’s wild turkeys have hybridized in far western Texas.
The key habitat needs to sustain wild turkey populations is well documented in Texas. Useable space should include roosting cover, nesting cover, and brood cover dispersed within large contiguous landscapes of trees, brush, and open areas wild turkeys can easily see and move through.
