Drive and hike up Prospect Mountain to enjoy the spectacular 360 degree views! Three overlooks provide views along the 5.5-mile highway of the Narrows, Lake George, and Eagle's Eye. Maybe stop at each on your way up to the top! The final parking lot is located 155 feet below the summit.
Drive Up Prospect Mountain. If you would still like to experience the panoramic views, but are unable to hike to the summit, you can drive to the top on the Veterans Memorial Highway. This 5.5-mile long route was built in 1969 and allows everyone to enjoy the scenery from Prospect Mountain's summit.
There is hiking trail access from Lake George Village at Montcalm and Cooper Streets. Drive time is approximately 10 min 1-way to parking lot plus stops. From I-87 Exit 21 turn left and drive 1 mile north on State Route 9 to the Highway entrance on left.

It is very popular among tourists, locals, and hikers because of its 100 mile view at the peak, and anyone can either hike or drive up to the top.

Along the drive up you'll find three major overlooks - The Narrows, Lake George Panorama, and The Eagle's Eye. Once you reach the top of the road, you'll find a parking lot where you can leave your car.
8 maj 2016 · Prospect Mountain. Prospect Mountain offers both a road to drive to the top (with a $10 entrance fee) and a hiking trail that climbs to the summit (free!). The trail starts at a walking bridge from Smith Street in the village of Lake George, crossing the Adirondack Northway (Interstate I-87) before ascending up the mountain.
