When it comes to ranking insights in Power BI, we use the RANKX and TOPN functions. However, these two DAX functions still have their own uniqueness. You can’t just select and use any of the two in any scenario you want.
If all you want is just simply to get the top 10 customers based on the sales amount, or bottom 5 products, etc, then you can simply use the visual-level filter GUI to perform this filtering. This is not a new functionality in Power BI, However, many users might not have yet seen it, so I’ll explain it in this short article and blog. Video
1 maj 2020 · In the Visual level filters, if you click on the drop down arrow of the group that you want to show top N of, click on the drop-down for "Filter type" and you should be able to see the choice "Top N". With that selected, you are now able to show "Top Items" and input your value (1,2,3,4,5 ...10).
