The electrical thermostat should be installed as close to the engine as possible so you are measuring the hot oil leaving the engine. The input to the oil filter is the perfect location and a brass Tee fitting works great here and turns the corner from the filter to your hose all at the same time.
31 sie 2016 · The oil from the engine to the front cooler are on one annulus, the oil from the cooler on another, and the oil to the tank are on the third. The flow is directed via a cylinder with slots cut in it, which moves up and down as the thermostat opens and closes, essentially acting as a sliding gate.
Worked like a champ, but mine had a manual one/off switch for the fan. A cleaner install would be to use a thermostatic switch to have the fan come on automatically when the temp get to the set point. I just used a sandwich plate at the oil filter to run to/from the cooler.

Installed caterpillar track (grommet edging, never heard that term before) where the thermostat contacts my bracket, courtesy the Cessna Aircraft Company...left overs out of my spare stuff...
