The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 until 2002 as coupes and from 1989 through 2008 model years as four-door sedans. First introduced as a full-size performance coupe for the 1962 model year, the model repeatedly varied in size, luxury, and performance over successive generations.

Wasn’t Ace Wilson a noted Pontiac performance dealer? His pic doesn’t look very inviting! I know that Royal Pontiac was a performance dealer.

25 mar 2015 · Engine-wise, the Grand Prix reached a peak in 1969 with the 428 cid V8 making 390 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. However, things took a sharp downturn, as emissions and the switch from SAE Gross to SAE Net power ratings dropped the Grand Prix to just 200–250 horsepower by 1972.

Its significance was not only that it was remarkably handsome, which it was, but that it solely created a genre that would dominate the sales charts in the seventies and early eighties: the mid-priced mid-sized semi-luxury coupe.
26 cze 2023 · This is a Grand Prix …. a car named after racing’s top tier, and a car that once stood out, had heritage, and whose front-end design influenced Detroit styling for several years. The name should never have been applied to a mid-size, V6 FWD 4 door sedan with a Mercury front-end.
