There are 5 careers available to players, but they are divided between pirate classes, available only to members of the Pirate nation, and national classes, which are available to British, French, and Spanish players.
In the full red PvP zone every player can be attacked by any other player of another nation. In the light red Pirate PvP zone only Pirates can attack and be attacked, as well as Privateers (level 15 or above).

In Pirates of the Burning Sea, you crawl into the skin of a captain who sails the rough seas of the Caribbean in the year 1720. When you first enter the world, you have to create an avatar to represent you. The first choice you have to make is which of the four nations you want to represent: Each nation has its own language, societies and cities.
