This article lists protocols, categorized by the nearest layer in the Open Systems Interconnection model. This list is not exclusive to only the OSI protocol family. Many of these protocols are originally based on the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) and other models and they often do not fit neatly into OSI layers.
Layer 2 protocols or network L2 protocols are a list of communication protocols used by Layer 2 devices (such as network interface cards (NIC), switches, multiport bridges, etc.) to transfer data in a wide area network, or between one node to another in a local area network.
14 lip 2022 · Layer 2 protocols. The purpose of Layer 2 is to perform routing on the local network. It feeds into the Layer 3 functions of routers, which send data out of a network and across other networks.
8 cze 2023 · Layer-2 protocols are protocols (run between two or more parties) that interact with a distributed-ledger protocol (e.g., a blockchain) during their execution; correspondingly, the latter is referred to as Layer-1 protocol.
11 gru 2023 · Discover how Layer 2 solutions like state channels, sidechains, and rollups are revolutionizing blockchain scalability and efficiency. Learn about popular Layer 2 protocols, their impact on transaction costs, and the future of blockchain development.
21 gru 2020 · OSI Layer 2. Layer 2 is the data link layer. Layer 2 defines how data is formatted for transmission, how much data can flow between nodes, for how long, and what to do when errors are detected in this flow. In more official tech terms: Line discipline. Who should talk for how long? How long should nodes be able to transit information for? Flow ...
In computer networking, Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) is a tunneling protocol used to support virtual private networks (VPNs) or as part of the delivery of services by ISPs.
