A parsec was an astronomical measure of length that stood for "parallax arc-second". It was based on the Earth method of measuring interstellar distances using trigonometry. A star located one parsec away from an observer would have a "parallax angle" of one arc-second.
16 maj 2015 · As you probably know, Parsec is an abbreviation for parallax of one arcsecond and is a technique invented in 1913 which allows astronomers to measure the distance of various objects in the night sky, from planets in our own solar system to far off stars.
A parsec is a unit of distance measurement, equal to 3.262 light-years (31 trillion kilometres or 19.2 trillion miles). One parsec is the distance at which one astronomical unit subtends an angle of one arc-second. The parsec measurement was often used to measure stellar cartography by starship navigators. A parsec (or parallax arc-second) is a unit of astronomical measurement, equal to roughly 3.26 light years. It was in common use by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd and 24th centuries...
I'm watching voyager and neelix says something about parsecs (I cant remember the line). Correct me if I'm wrong, but is a parsec not earth relative, and having lived only in the delta quadrant, how would he know about the distance and how to calculate something invented by such distant people?
A parsec, abbreviated pc, was the parallax of one arc second. It was the standard unit of distance in interstellar travel, and was equal to 3.26 light years; 206,265 AUs; or 30.8×10 12 kilometers.
Interplay, Simon & Schuster, MicroProse and Activision released most of the best-known Star Trek games between 2000 and 2003. Titles like Star Trek: Armada, Star Trek: Elite Force and Star Trek: Bridge Commander were all published during this period, as were over half of all the other major Star Trek PC games.
