Parents is a 1989 American black comedy horror film directed by Bob Balaban and starring Randy Quaid, Mary Beth Hurt, Sandy Dennis and Bryan Madorsky. Set in a 1950s California suburb, the film centers on a 10-year old boy (Madorsky), who suspects that his parents (Quaid and Hurt) are not what they seem.
Some of the most terrifying scenes I've ever seen in any movie. The ending is incredible as well. Randy Quaid's performance will stick with you for a long time.

Thanks to some quality acting from Randy Quaid and Mary Beth Hurt, you’re constantly on the edge, never sure whether the parents are deserving of trust. They show resentment towards Michael in many scenes, but usually not without due reason.
It's an excellent apparently unknown film that I've been turning people on to for about a quarter century. It may not be quite Citizen Kane, but Randy Quaid almost makes it so. It's so sad that we had to lose him to insanity.
