A VVI pacemaker stimulates and senses in the chamber and if it senses spontaneous ventricular activity (R-wave), it does not stimulate. If the ventricular rate is slower than the base rate, then the pacemaker will pace.

7 sie 2023 · To facilitate the use and understanding of pacemakers, a standardized classification code has been developed. Most patients can be managed with one of three common modes (AAI, VVI, or DDD), with or without rate responsiveness.
Pacemakers can be programmed to pace and to sense in a bipolar mode (lead tip to lead ring) or a unipolar mode (lead tip to pulse generator). Bipolar sensing is preferred due to its smaller sensing “antenna,” which minimizes oversensing of extracardiac signals.
8 paź 2024 · VVI – Ventricle pacing and sensing. Similar to AAI mode but involving ventricles instead of the atrium. Used in patients with chronic atrial impairment e.g. atrial fibrillation or flutter. DDD – pacing and sensing the atria and ventricles. Commonest pacing mode. Atrial pacing occurs if no native atrial activity for set time.
21 cze 2015 · Pacemakers with an atrial lead can be programmed to an atrial-inhibited mode referred to as AAI, whereas devices with a ventricular lead can be programmed to a ventricular-inhibited mode (VVI).

AAI. atrial pacing and sensing; if no electrical impulse sensed then pacemaker will pace @ a pre-programmed rate; if electrical impulse sensed then pacing inhibited; VVI. ventricular pacing and sensing; if no electrical impulse sensed then pacemaker will pace @ a pre-programmed rate
17 sty 2019 · VVI or VVIR: VVI(R) is one of the more commonly used pacing modes. VVI(R) is ventricular demand pacing. The ventricle is paced, sensed, and the pulse generator inhibits pacing output in...
