A bird’s-eye view refers to a viewpoint from above, looking down on a scene or object. This perspective offers a comprehensive view of a landscape, cityscape, or other large areas, similar to what a bird might see while flying overhead.
OpenAerialMap creates a place for mappers to store and share their work with the rest of the community. Through this database, everyone has a go to point to start helping out, whether it's drone pilots in areas of crisis, or mappers who want to trace from home.
Overhead view is fairly synonymous with bird's-eye view but tends to imply a vantage point of a lesser height than the latter term. For example, in computer and video games, an "overhead view" of a character or situation often places the vantage point only a few feet (a meter or two) above human height.
An overhead shot is a camera angle where the camera is positioned directly above the subject, capturing a top-down view. This type of shot can dramatically alter the viewer's perspective, creating a sense of distance or disconnection from the subject while emphasizing spatial relationships within the scene.
