In 2021 Tama County Conservation broke ground on a massive lake restoration project for Otter Creek Lake. The lake had long been subject to slow siltation over the decades and was so full of eroded material, that some parts of the center of the lake were traversible by foot.
Otter Creek Lake & Park is the largest and most heavily used facility managed by the Conservation Board. The park serves as the headquarters for the office and maintenance operations of the Conservation Board and the home of the Tama County Nature Center.
Tama County Conservation is located in central Iowa and is home to Otter Creek Lake & Park, Ike's Shooting Range, and TF Clark's Park. The Tama CCB manages 14 parks, water recreation accesses, and natural areas about the county, encompassing some 1,102 acres.
The Tama County Nature Center is located at beautiful Otter Creek Lake and Park in central Tama County. The 5,600 sq. ft. facility is a popular experiential center serving as the primary location for environmental education activities of the Conservation Board and provides a top quality display room to inspire visitors.
23 cze 2023 · TOLEDO, IA— Following lake improvements, visitors will once again be able to hike and camp at Otter Creek Lake & Park starting on June 29, 2023. Upon reopening, all park trails, roads, restrooms, and shelters will be available for public use.
