drop rate is proportional to your damage. you do 10% of damage (on nex, and minions total) you get (1/10) * (1/43). if you get mvp you get an additional 10% bonus on your dmg, so like 11% instead of 10%.
If you’re the mvp you get a 10% boost, so if you do 25% of the damage and get mvp, you’ll have a ~1/156 drop rate. You should see at least 1 drop per 43 Nex kc, no matter the team size (assuming no deaths). Because of the mvp boost the average rate should be slightly better than 1/43.
Mvp gives a slight boost to regular loot and also think it gives a slight boost to unique rate but the figures above are basically what you’re dealing with. Assuming it's not bugged again, you get a chance depending on your contribution to roll on an unique, mvp gets a boost to the chance.

When Player 2 is being attacked by Nex, they will quickly follow Player 1. Due to the pathing mechanics of the game, this allows Player 2 to hide under Nex for a few ticks while they switch to Protect from Melee, decreasing the overall damage dealt to the team while they contribute damage to Nex.
