Before you throw your hands in the air, and potentially throw out a perfectly good battery switch, consider making your 1/2/B switch a USE SWITCH. The 1/2/B as a use switch is still not our favorite switching configuration, but it is often the least expensive upgrade.
Obtain a voltage sensitive relay and connect it between battery 1 and battery 2. When not using the boat switch to off, when using the boat switch to 1 end of story. Always have a full crank battery, alternator will automatically charge battery 2 when crank is full and you don't have to remember to keep switching things around.
30 sie 2008 · Turn switch on: Start battery connected to starter, house bank battery/batteries connected to house systems. None of this "1/2/Both" stuff . Switch has a "combine" in case it's needed.
7 sie 2023 · Battery 1 is a battery designed to deliver lots of power for a short burst—just long enough to start the main engines. Battery 2 is a deep discharge battery that handles the load for lights, refrigeration and AC. Thanks to the switch it can also send power to the starting battery should it ever go dead and be unable to start the main engine.
4 cze 2019 · If the switch is set to 1 then only battery 1 is being charged, switching to 2 then only battery 2 is being charged, if set to Both then the charge is split across the batteries. Each time the switch is rotated there is a risk of accidentally hitting OFF and that would be bad for the alternator.
1 lis 2018 · On odd days, use Battery #1, then use Battery #2 on even days. Assuming we’ve spent the same day on the water using Battery #1, at the end of the day we can use fully charged Battery #2 to start the engine. Over the course of the season, you’ll use both batteries equally.
