The responsibilities of a treasurer include meeting the many requirements of the law; working closely with the school district management team and County Auditor; advising the District Leadership Team on financial matters; developing, establishing, and monitoring fiscal management procedures, and providing information to stakeholders.
The Treasurer of an Ohio school district must hold appropriate certification to serve as the Chief Financial Officer and reports directly to the Board of Education. The treasurer and superintendent are the only two district employees who report directly to the Board of Education.
General Description: Serve as the District’s chief financial officer; assume responsibility for receipt, safekeeping, and disbursement of all District funds; direct and manage all financial accounting programs and systems.
Ohio Standards for School Treasurers will serve as: • An overview of the expectations of leadership, management, communication, collaboration , and professionalism for Ohio’s school treasurers; • An instrument for the effective professional development of school treasurers; and • Criteria for measurement of standard compliance.
The Treasurer is the chief fiscal officer of the Huber Heights City School District and, as such, is vested with many statutory duties and powers, including income projections, expenditures, and reporting of all financial affairs.
Purpose of OTES. Overview of the Ohio Treasurer’s Evaluation System ( OTES ): the system is designed to provide the Board of Education a process to evaluate the performance of the Treasurer centered around a standards-based job description and measureable annual objectives.
