11 lis 2024 · After only a month of fighting, poorly-defended France fell to Hitler’s troops and the Nazi regime occupied Paris on June 14. The French government abandoned the city and set up shop in the town of Vichy, about 220 miles south of Paris.

The Musée de la Libération de Paris reopened in August 2020 (for the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris) in a new space located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris (just across from the site of the Catacombs of Paris). This museum has been completely redesigned and it is a great success.

On the 75th anniversary of that event — known as the Liberation of Paris — a revamped World War II museum was inaugurated with a fabulous new look and in a much-improved location.
The French government departed Paris on June 10th, and the Germans occupied the city on June 14th. During the occupation, the French government moved to Vichy , and Paris was governed by the German military and by French officials approved by the Germans.
The museum is dedicated to the history of the Second World War and packed with a collection of over 7,000 artefacts from military and daily life, each telling a tale of both famous and lesser-known WW2 history.
