I tried just copying and pasting the oblivion folder and restarting steam but that didn't work. It just created another folder in c:/programfiles (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common, and none of my mods showed up on the data files when I ran the game.
Knowing this i checked my save file path directory in the oblivion.ini and it is in the appropriate path that i will show below: C:\Users\Markz\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves. I can see all my saves here, including my most recent one. For some reason a save named "steam_autocloud vdf" is also here.
What worked for me was going into the Steam settings, then downloads, then clicking on "Steam Library Folders". Once I was in that menu I just the plus icon and selected the steam library folder in my D:\ drive.
Steam only installs to the directory that will be revealed. There will be a folder in Documents (mine are in Documents/My Games) with save data, and maybe some other stuff, but that isn't the install directory.
Right-Click Oblivion in your steam list, select properties, go to local files tab. Press verify integrity of game cache. Wait till this has run through and downloaded the missing files. Use this if not even the launcher appears or if you get “game not available” messages. Restart Steam.
all there is in the oblivion folder is the folder save and in that folder is "steam_autocloud.vdf". Not the Oblivion folder, your My Games folder which is in 'Documents' contains your Oblivion.ini file. If you don't have an Oblivion.ini folder there, you're game won't start, so you must.
