2 sie 2014 · I've been toying with Oblivion mods lately. I've recently uninstalled and I want to reinstall the game outside of program files but steam does not allow me to place it in another folder or perhaps I am just missing the browse button.
Nope. Steam only installs to the directory that will be revealed. There will be a folder in Documents (mine are in Documents/My Games) with save data, and maybe some other stuff, but that isn't the install directory.
If you want Oblivion to be installed on a different drive or folder you have to install or move steam somewhere else. Or go into the settings and give it a new default folder to download games into
You can absolutely move your install folder via steam. Right click the game from your steam library > Properties > Local Files > Move install folder. You can also set up your Steam Library Folders to be off of the C drive, which is absolutely recommended for anything related to modding right at the beginning.
5 sty 2011 · The 'Oblivion Install Directory' Means the folder that the Oblivion is installed in (Directory=Folder) - look for a file called Oblivion. exe (NOT the ESM or ESP) and put it in the same folder.
16 mar 2012 · It should work similarly, but will probably still have to download a few files, mostly the ones that are steamworks encrypted. 1) start the steam download and pause it once it has begun downloading anything. This will create the directory for the game. 2) close steam. 3) Copy the disc installed folder into the steam install.
