10 lip 2022 · Just re-downloaded oblivion and every time I try and start the game it doesn't get to the launch menu. I tried going into the game files to start it but I can't get past the launcher.
Hey everybody. I just bought oblivion on Steam and while I can get the launcher to open, the game itself will not load. When i click play, the launcher just closes and then nothing happens. Here's what I've tried so far: Running in compatibility mode. Running in windowed mode. Reinstalling the game.
I've been trying to fix this for weeks. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times. Also "verified integrity of game files", it was fine. I've tried launching it through various different means.
when I launch Oblivion in Steam, after a few seconds the launcher shows up and all the options are available, but when I press Play it says “The Oblivion Launcher could not find the Oblivion game executable. Please reinstall Oblivion.” To be clear, they are in the same folder: …/steamapps/common/Oblivion.
15 lip 2021 · Enter the Oblivion folder and make sure you select everything besides the Saves folder, right-click, and choose the Delete option from the context menu. Restart the game afterward by relaunching Steam and double-clicking the game from the Steam Library tab to see if Oblivion still crashes on startup.

Incomplete un-installations are among the main reasons why Oblivion refuses to start.
If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fails to launch, go through any installed multimedia programs (DVD writing, Music players, A/V editing) and uninstall any programs that install their own codecs. Once you find the one that lets the game launch, you may then re-install the other programs once again.
