Go to your game directory, right click on the oblivion.exe>properties>compatibilities>check "run as administrator>apply. If you use mods and have installed OBSE, do the same with obse_loader.exe (should be in the same directory) and launch the game using that application instead of the regular launcher.

I just bought oblivion on Steam and while I can get the launcher to open, the game itself will not load. When i click play, the launcher just closes and then nothing happens. Here's what I've tried so far: Running in compatibility mode. Running in windowed mode.
If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fails to launch, go through any installed multimedia programs (DVD writing, Music players, A/V editing) and uninstall any programs that install their own codecs. Once you find the one that lets the game launch, you may then re-install the other programs once again.
21 kwi 2021 · The problem is that as soon as I run Wyre Bash and select Oblivion, it prompts me to say the ini file is corrupt and says " Your Oblivion.ini should begin with a section header (e.g." [General]"), but does not. You should edit the file to correct this.
1 sty 2020 · The problem: Clean installation of Oblivion crashes on startup with message "Application stopped working". To Reproduce: Erase all files from previous installation - uninstall the game via Steam, delete "C:\Users<user name>\Documents\My Games\Oblivion". Install the game via Steam, verify its integrity. Launch it.
26 kwi 2019 · Despite using the steam version of the game, I have tried running the Loader.Exe, to no avail. In my Oblivion folder I have inserted the Data folder from the OBSE zip, obse_steam_loader.dll, obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_loader.exe for good measure.
