Firstly, with Wryebash and Oblivion Mod Manager and the like, you will not need to personally mess with the data folder. These programs will add and remove files from the data folder by activating and deactivating the mods. That's what makes them so great. Download mod Open downloads folder and drag archive into the wryebash tab called installers.

Extract the files so that the files (esp, bsa, etc.) and the folders (meshes, textures, sounds, etc.) are in the Oblivion data folder (\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data).
17 wrz 2012 · If I want Joe's Cool Sword mod then I download to H:\OblivionDownloads\JoesCoolSword. I extract the mod to that same folder (which is 7-Zip's default behavior). This way I can examine the mod's files and folder structure without affecting my game install.
