19 cze 2012 · The average benefit of extended warranties and insurance is always less than the premium paid, or the provider would go bankrupt. Mass produced goods, especially electronics, tend to show most of their failures (which might be a small number) in the first few months of use (due to production errors).
Reminds me of when I worked at Kit's Camera, and I sold a guy a 5 year extended warranty on a Nikon D1, a $5k camera at the time. The warranty was $3100. We were required to ask about it, and he took almost no convincing, and bought it.
18 gru 2022 · I agree with what others have said and don't think an extended warranty is necessary, but if a camera has heavy shotgun type use and a person plans to keep it for an extended period, then an extended warranty might be worth considering.
21 paź 2008 · I've never bought anything refurbished, but I've heard a number of people say that Cameta Camera extends Nikon's refurbished 90 day warranty to a full year.
If it's certified refurbished by Nikon, it should be alright. That was the case for my D7100 which I bought from Adorama a year ago. It had 395 shots when I received it, and it works fine. Also, I know Cameta Camera also sells Nikon-refurbished cameras and somehow they extend the warranty to a year, so that might be worth checking out.
20 sty 2023 · I never buy extended warranty coverage for anything (not for cameras, cars, appliances, or anything). I have always felt that these policies are extremely expensive insurance premiums whose aggregate cost is unfavorable to the consumer over the long run.
7 kwi 2021 · Today (April 7, 2021), I got confirmation from Nikon USA that they now only provide a standard one-year warranty for Nikkor lenses, both F-mount and Z-mount. Previously (since the 1990's I believe), Nikon USA used to provide a 1 + 4 with a total of 5 years of extended warranty for new Nikon lenses.
