13 wrz 2022 · Although small and lightweight for a telephoto zoom lens, the Nikon delivers good performance, with quick autofocus and 4-stop VR, as billed. Sharpness is very good across most of the frame even when shooting wide-open, throughout most of the zoom range.
The Nikon 55-200mm VR is significantly better for hand-held shooting than non-VR tele lenses, including the non-VR 55-200mm, because the VR helps ensure sharp shots that otherwise are often blurred. VR is less important with normal lenses, and very important with telephoto lenses.

:-) Its most obvious differentiator to the el-cheapo Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED DX is the 2nd generation VR (Vibration Reduction) mechanism. As a designated DX lens it projects a reduced (APS-C) image circle and is therefore not compatible to full format SLRs anymore.
